HUMBLE AND FAITHFUL PERSON (FAVORED)
Exodus 3:3-4 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, here am I.
Moses was a highly favored child. He had a destiny from the time he was in his mother’s womb. Hebrews 11:23 (AMP) says, “By faith Moses, after his birth, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful and divinely favored child; and they were not afraid of the king’s (Pharaoh’s) decree.” This scripture says that Moses was a divinely favored child. He had favor with God and favor with man. The favor on his life positioned him to be the grandchild of Pharaoh, the very man that had ordered all the male babies of the Israelites killed.
God made Moses a deliverer in the womb, before he did anything right or wrong. That was God’s side of the favor Moses walked in, but it seems there was also a man side. It’s not works that gets God to favor you, but actions and character traits that keep the favor of God working in your life. What were they for Moses?
First, we see the one mentioned in our scripture. God set up the burning bush, but Moses had to “turn aside to see.” If Moses had not given his attention to the bush and known it was God in the bush that caused it to burn but not be consumed, then God would not have spoken to Moses and given him directions to deliver the children of Israel. We must give God our full attention by being doers of His Word and following the leadings of the Holy Spirit.
As we look at some other things about Moses, let’s see how they apply to our lives, so we, too, can walk in the favor that has been bestowed upon us as children of the Most High God. Moses found himself in a situation where the deliverer that he was called to be wanted to respond, and he did. He helped the ladies out who were watering their flocks by chasing the bad guys away. He did this, even though he had just run from Egypt where he was trying to help an Israelite, but it had gone very badly. The Lord had some interesting and lofty things to say about Moses, which leads me to understand why the Lord chose him and why he was favored.
Numbers 12:3 says, “(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth).” Now, that is some high praise. God was saying that Moses was the most humble man on the planet at that time. Wow! That is some rare verbiage for the Word of God. We, like Moses, must humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God. Then, He will be able to exalt us (give us favor with God and man) in due season. It is a season for great favor for the Body of Christ, but it seems only the humble will receive and walk in this profuse favor.
The last thing I want to look at is what the Word of God says about Moses in Numbers 12:7-8, “My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: wherefore then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” God called Moses faithful. God Himself is faithful, and the Word says it is required of a steward that they be found faithful. In other words, God is faithful, and He likes to work with those who are also faithful. It is a very important quality that God looks for as He allows His favor to work in our lives. Again, I am not saying you get favor by works. I am saying that it can short circuited unless you have some things working in your life like Moses did. Just to throw this in, Moses had such favor with God that God spoke to him mouth to mouth, or face to face. God had Moses’ back when people talked trash about his new wife. God’s favor was at work in Moses’ life. That same favor can work in our lives as well!
