PROFUSE FAVOR
Luke 4:19 (AMPC) To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound].
The Lord has given us a Word from the Word for 2025. He said it would be a year of profuse favor. When He said that, through a prophetic utterance, I didn’t really remember the Amplified Classic translates it exactly that way, “profuse favor.” Profuse means plentiful, abundant, lavish, and extravagant. The definition of favor is receiving kindness beyond what is due or usual, giving someone preference over another. The favor of God is available to every born-again Christian every day; but the Lord is emphasizing it to us for this year, so we must increase our capacity to receive His favor by hearing what the Word of God has to say about favor, who it’s for, and how to walk it.
In today’s verse, Jesus is referring to the Jubilee that was celebrated every 50 years. This Jubilee was definitely favor working on behalf of the people, especially those who had lost something valuable. It was a time of great favor and restoration. At the moment of Jubilee, according to Leviticus, a trumpet would sound, and the restoration would begin. If you had lost anything, house, child to servitude, property, whatever it was, you could just say, “Jubilee!” and whoever had possession of it had to return it to you. Wow! What an exciting time. Talk about having favor with God and man.
It reminds me of when the Israelites spoiled the Egyptians on the way out. This Jubilee was exceptional. It was amazing! I am sure, people waited with great expectation for that 50th year, the year of restoration. What was Jesus saying? He was saying that Jubilee is no longer a year; it’s a person. Jesus declared that Jubilee was now available every day because of Him. Profuse favor with God and man was now available every day because of Him. Restoration was now available every day because of Him. You didn’t have to wait until the 50th year to get your stuff back!
The Holy Spirit is reminding us of what God is emphasizing, that this is the year to get restored. Remember, the Lord said He would even restore the years that that the enemy has stolen (Joel 2:25). It’s Jubilee; it’s double Jubilee; it’s the year of profuse favor!
