Walking In Your Benefits and Walking Out Your Righteousness
Psalm 84:11 (NLT) “For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.”
In this verse we see a couple of things that are so important for us to understand in order to walk in all that God has promised. First, we must know and believe that God is not withholding from us. It is interesting that a lot of people in the body of Christ have been led to believe that God doesn’t want you prosperous, healthy, and emotionally well—but that could not be further from the truth.
When Jesus died on that cross, He took upon Himself our sin, our sickness, and our poverty. James 1:17 tells us that every good gift comes from God, and Matthew 7:11 shows that natural parents know how to give good gifts to their children—so how much more will God give good things to those who ask? Even our verse for today shows us that God isn’t withholding from us. Let these verses inspire your faith, assuring you that God desires to bless you abundantly. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, He has already made a way to pour His goodness into your life. Psalm 68:19 tells us that God daily loads us with benefits!
Now that faith has come to you through the Word of God, begin to declare that God is not withholding from you and that you daily walk in His benefits! Even if you don’t feel it or see it immediately, begin to declare it by faith!
Next, we see that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to do what is right. Some translations of this verse put it as “walk blamelessly,” “walk uprightly,” or “walk with integrity.” So what does that mean for us? Well, it doesn’t mean that we are trying to earn something, because all that God has done for us is freely given through the work of Christ. Instead, it means that when we take God at His Word, His goodness follows, and our responsibility is to continue living in integrity and uprightness.
Simply put, you live as a child of God—redeemed and blessed through Christ—and you demonstrate that to the world by walking in integrity and living a blameless life.
