Can You Finish?

Luke 14:28-30 “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sits not down first, and counts the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.”

Finishing is what has to be on our mind. If every day we are thinking of finishing, then we can turn what needs to be accomplished into bite-size portions of “What do I need to do today?” and “What is the Holy Ghost leading me to do today?” Then we can put all those days together to finish our course.

In order to live this way, you must first sit down and count the cost. What is it going to take to live every day this way? When you go to build something in the natural, you have to ask yourself, “If I start this, can I also finish it?” It is so easy to start something. You can start a marathon, but if you are not prepared, you will not finish it. You can look the part, have all the right clothes on, and still not have what is needed to finish the course.

Jesus is the author and the finisher of your faith, and He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He told the Father, “I have finished the work that you sent me to do.” Finishing your course, your race, is so important, not only to you but to everyone who is supposed to be touched by you on your course. There are divine appointments on your course.

Jesus was saying that the foundation, the starting, is not the issue. Anyone can start, but can they finish? It is a long race, a long course, so can we maintain to the finish? The devil is fighting us every day to knock us off course. Your adversary can’t keep you out of Heaven, so what he tries to do, on a daily basis, is mess you up so you can’t help anyone else or get a crown.

We have to be like Paul, who said, “None of these things move me.” Having that attitude will help you finish your course. I do not want the devil and his crowd, or critical, so-called Christians, to be able to mock us because we started but couldn’t finish. Count the cost, determine what you need to finish, and then run your course until it is completed.
