RECEIVING YOUR HEART’S DESIRE

Psalm 21:2 (NKJV) You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips.

The Lord wants us to have the desires of our heart, and it seems to me that He is the one who put those desires that are godly and good for us in us. Psalm 37:4 says if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart. I believe this to mean that He puts them in us and then brings them to pass. Psalm 145:19 (AMPC) says, “He will fulfill the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.” He wants to fulfill the desires of our heart. I know so many people believe that God may not always meet their needs, let alone the desires of their heart, but He is telling us that He does want to fulfill those desires. Mark 11:24 clearly tells us that whatsoever things you desire, when you pray, believe you receive them, and you shall have them. Yes, it is obvious in these scriptures that God wants to meet the desires of your heart. But notice in today’s verse, the second part says what? It says, “…and have not withheld the request of his lips,” so you still have to ask.

Jesus has taught us over and over that we still have to ask. The Father knows what you have need of before you ask, but you still have to ask the Father in the name of Jesus. When people see this they think, about other people, “What if someone asks for something that is not good for them? Will God still give it to them?” I think the best answer to that question is through bringing in more scriptures, which will bring more light. John 15:7 says, “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.” Faith begins where the will of God is known; even the desires of your heart come under this category. You cannot have faith for something that is not the will of God. The Word of God is the general will of God, and if your desire doesn’t align with the written Word of God, you can’t get that desire from God. The Word is our safeguard; it is like those bumpers they put in the gutter for kids when they are bowling. The Word will keep you out of the spiritual ditches. When your desire matches the Word of God, then you can ask. You must ask from a place of total confidence that God hears you when you pray!

Has God put a desire in your heart? Does it line up with the Word of God? Then ask Him for it, and believe you receive it! Be confident that He heard you! Now rejoice and be glad because God has given you your heart’s desire! He has not withheld the request of your lips! He has not withheld the request of your lips!
