NO CONFUSION!
1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
There are times in the Word where God came and brought confusion for man’s benefit; the Tower of Babel comes to mind, but that was so man wouldn’t go off and do something stupid. This scripture tells us that God is not the author of confusion. So, who is the author of confusion? That would have to be the devil. What is confusion? Confusion is the lack of clarity or a misunderstanding of the truth or facts of any given situation. So, what does the devil do? He blinds the minds of unbelievers so they can’t distinguish the truth when they hear it. When the Word says, “God is not the author of confusion,” we must understand that this implies that one of the devil’s weapons against the Body of Christ is confusion.
When someone is confused, they make bad choices because they don’t understand the truth. James 3:16 says, “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” So, we can see from this scripture that what brings confusion is envy and strife. We can see that when the devil gets people into envy and strife, it opens the door for him to bring confusion. When I think of confusion I think of chaos, drama, and overwhelming feelings. We don’t have to have confusion in our lives. Instead, we can have what the Father is the author of and that is peace.
Instead of confusion, we can walk in the peace of God, the very peace that Jesus left us. John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Thank God, instead of confusion, God offers us the very peace that Jesus walked in. It is not automatic, like most things with God are not; we have a part to play. Isaiah 26:3 (AMPC) says, “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.” Our part is to keep our mind stayed on God. How do we do that? By meditating on the Word of God, through prayer, by having conversation with the Lord, with true worship, and by confessing the Word of God. As we keep our mind stayed on Him and walk in perfect peace, no confusion can come to our soul; and that’s when we will make the best decisions we have ever made. And it will cause us to walk in God’s highest and best for our lives.
