FIGHT SO YOU CAN FINISH!
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
We all want to finish our course, don’t we? I want to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” don’t you? How are we going to do that? We have to fight! We must live by faith! If we are going to finish our course with joy, we will have to do it by faith, and we will have to fight to finish. We know that Jesus has already fought the war and won. He defeated the devil so that we could have victory in every part of our life, but we still have to resist the devil steadfast in the faith. To finish our course, we must walk by faith every day. We must live by faith. The best advice I can give you, if you really want to finish your course, is just to live by faith, resist the devil by faith, and every day obey God. I do know that the devil knows he can’t keep those who are born again from going to Heaven when they die, but because the devil knows what eternity is and where he will spend his, I think he is determined to mess us up on Earth because he knows there are rewards waiting for us in Heaven to place at Jesus’ feet. While the devil is in Hell, we will be enjoying Heaven with the Lord. We will be there with our rewards that we received because we finished our course. The devil is not just trying to make you miserable on the Earth, he is also trying to get you off course. If the enemy can get you off course, he can mess up your eternity. Think about that. The devil is playing the long game and not just thinking of us here on the Earth; he is thinking of our forever. Please don’t get the attitude, “As long as I make it to Heaven, that’s enough.” There will be people on their deathbed that accept Jesus, but you’re not one of them. You need to live with eternity and rewards in mind because you want something to lay at Jesus’ feet. How do you do that? This verse! I will finish my course! I will live by faith every day! I will fight the good fight of faith! If you do these things every day, you will hear those cherished words, “Well done, good and faithful servant; enter into the joy of the Lord.”
