HE KNOWS HOW!
2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished.
The Lord knows how to deliver us out of all the temptations, snares, traps, and situations that the devil may throw at us. The thing is, we need to get the strategy from the Word of God and from the Holy Ghost. We have so many examples of the Lord delivering His people in the great faith chapter in Hebrews 11. God delivered them all! What did they all have in common? They all had faith. God supplied the power and gave them promises and strategies to get them delivered from all their problems. God’s part is the doing, and our part is the believing and trusting in the plan that He gives us. So, it seems to me, God knows how to deliver us, but the problem is that we don’t know how God is going to do it, so we feel stuck. When that happens, it seems to me, it’s because we didn’t get the solution and strategy from God.
So, the wrong prayer, in some cases, might be, “God, I ask you to deliver me,” because He has already promised to do that. The right prayer would be, “Lord, what do I need to know, what is the plan, what is the strategy?” So now, we’re not waiting on God to deliver us because He has already done that. We are waiting for the strategy. That strategy comes from the Word of God and by the voice of the Holy Ghost. I am convinced that most people get stuck, not because they don’t love God or believe God can or even already has delivered them, but because they are not looking for a strategy. They are looking for God to do something without their involvement. Throughout the Word of God, we are told that faith in God has corresponding actions, and your deliverance out of temptations, snares, and every evil situation has a corresponding action, too, that God will give you according to your faith; but you must ask Him and then, listen and do what He says.
Let’s look at some examples. Moses led the people of Israel out of bondage in Egypt. What did God tell them to do? He told them to take the Passover meal and get prepared for the journey; that is a strategy. They obeyed and the Lord delivered them in grand fashion. For the city of Jericho in the Promised Land, the Lord told Joshua what to do and they did exactly what He said, and the Lord delivered Jericho into their hands. When the enemy had taken all the Israelites wives and children, David prayed and the Lord told him to pursue, overtake, and recover all. That is a strategy, and it worked; and David recovered all that the enemy had stolen. When the Israelites were surrounded by three armies, they prayed, and the Lord gave them instructions, a strategy. He said they were to put the singers out front and sing, “For the Lord is good, and His mercy endures forever.” They did and God did. God knows how to deliver us. He has a strategy, but we must hear it and believe it when we hear it. Spend some time with the Lord and get the strategy for your deliverance and then, do it and watch God work!
