Always Abounding
1 Corinthians 15:58 (AMPC) “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].”
As I have pastored for 30 years, one thing I have seen is the devil constantly and consistently trying to move people away from serving God. When life happens and things get tense, the devil pushes people to back away from their service to God. The devil tries to convince people that their serving is too much, and they need to take a break. I will say that God can lead you to take a break, and sometimes breaks are healthy if you are doing what the Lord has dealt with you to do. During that break, you would be feeding on the Word, attending every service you can, and sitting and soaking. People have a gift, and the devil doesn’t want them to use it for the glory of God, so he pushes them to quit.
We must be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. We should be excelling in the area of serving the Lord by serving the Body of Christ. When you serve God, you walk in serving grace, and I don’t believe this grace lifts off you in your daily life. The more grace that you activate by serving, the more aware of that grace you will be for the rest of your life. That living grace will be increased and enhanced. This scripture says that as we serve the Lord, it will never be in vain. When we serve God by serving people, the Lord will reward us now and at the Judgment Seat of Christ. We must determine that we will not be moved from obeying God in our lives. We will do what He has made us to do and to be. Just like we will not let circumstances move our faith, we are not going to allow anything to move us from what the Lord has asked us to do.
