DRAW NEAR TO GOD

Psalm 145:18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.

Being near to the Lord is very important in walking by faith.  One thing that I am aware of is that people are trying to believe God without much of a close relationship with the Lord.  We must be careful that our walk with God does not become mechanical or even works based.  God is stationary, so we must draw near to Him.  We are supposed to live in the secret place, according to Psalm 91, which is right under the very shadow of the Almighty.  If we don’t dwell in His presence, it becomes very hard to live by faith because faith requires an active relationship with the Lord.  We must continue to draw near to Him.  We must walk with Him daily.  Amos 3:3 tells us that we can’t really walk with Him unless we agree with Him.  You can’t walk in deep fellowship with God unless you agree with Him and walk and live by His truth.

This agreement with God comes by knowing what His Word says or knowing what the truth is.  Knowing the truth not only sets you free, according to John 8:31-32, but it also gives you a closeness with your Heavenly Father.  Remember, His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways, but they are not beyond finding out.  Every thought that God wanted us to know has been written down.  God’s ways are clearly explained throughout the Word of God.  They have been revealed to us by the Holy Ghost according to 1 Corinthians 2:10.

What is my point?  That we must walk with God closely, and the only way to do that is by knowing and walking in the truth of God’s Word.  Casualness with God is called carnality and will cause us to forfeit many of the blessings and the promises of God we are supposed to be walking in while here on the Earth.  James 4:8 tells us that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us.  That scripture goes on to tell us to cleanse our hands and purify our hearts, and the only way we can do that is with the blood of Jesus and the washing of the Word of God which is the pure and Holy water in our lives.  It is our move.  We are as close to God as we currently want to be.  He is calling us to come and walk with Him every day because He has things to tell us and future things He wants to reveal to us.  He wants to guide us successfully through this life, but for that to happen, we must get close to Him.
