THROUGH CHRIST
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
First, let’s look at “in Christ.” Because we are born again, He lives in us by His Spirit, and we are also in Him. There are so many wonderful “in Him,” “by Him,” and “through Him” scriptures. It is a wonderful study of who you are in Christ Jesus. Jesus said that without Him you can do nothing; you can’t do anything worthwhile and lasting without Him. You can do some things in your own strength and willpower, but that will run out. If you do things through Him and by Him, you have an endless supply of the power of God.
The strength of God is available to every child of God. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.” God has always promised to strengthen His people. One of my favorite verses on strength is Nehemiah 8:10; it says the joy of the Lord is my strength. Ephesians 6:10 tells us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. The strength of God is available to each of us, but are we walking in that strength or are we walking in an imitation by trying to do it in our own power?
How do you know if it is God’s strength? It is simple. It is when you are not doing it by forcing it or trying to make it happen. It is similar to when Jesus told Paul that His grace (empowerment or strength to stand against the enemy) is sufficient. God’s power is in you and on you. That power you received when you were filled with the Holy Ghost is very important and will not only help you be a witness but will strengthen you. We must stop trying to do things in our own strength because we have the strength of Almighty God available to each one of us. Let’s all receive that strength. How? Confess, “I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” Confess, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Then, rejoice with joy, unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith, receiving the strength that accompanies that joy. The Lord truly is the strength of our lives!
