John 14:23 “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
To say, “I love God. I really love the Lord, and He loves me just the way I am,” is the current mantra of many deceived people who have heard that God is love. God loving you is not the question, but the question is, do we really love God? That is a question to be answered by the Word of God and not the supposition of men, or the doctrine of men, or a doctrine from a demon.
Who really loves God? The answer is found in this particular Scripture. Jesus said that if you love Him and love God, you will do what He says. You will not do what you think He says. You will not do your interpretation of what He said. You will not do what you think He meant. You will do what He actually said.
James 1:22 says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” It is not enough and never has been enough to just hear the Word. Faith does come when you hear the Word, but you are never to stop there. It is just a starting place. We must put into action what we have heard because faith without corresponding actions is dead.
If we only hear the Word, which is great and vital, but we don’t do the Word, the Scripture says we are self-deceived. The devil didn’t deceive you. No one else deceived you. You deceived yourself by not doing what you heard.
If we really love the Lord, we will become doers of His Word. It is the proof that we love Him. To say, “I love Him,” or “I really love God,” and not do His Word really cannot be the truth. If we really know Him and love Him, we will keep His Word.
1 John 2:3-5 says, “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keeps His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him.”
If we say we love Him and don’t do what He says, what He has written down, the way He wrote it down, the Scripture says we are a liar. That’s plain. If we are doers of the Word and we keep the Word, then that is the proof that we love Him.
God has already proven He loves us. He sent Jesus. We prove we love the Father and have fellowship with the Father because we do what we have heard. Just do it!
